Dug ga ga gug ga ga
I have been researching a dug ga ga gug ga ga otherwise known as a drum set. Since I do not want to blast the family out of the house I have been shopping for an electric kit. There really is not a lot to choose from, the main kits that get good reviews are from Yamaha and Roland. The YAMAHA DXPIVSP DTXpress IV Special is more in my price range…well, not really. It is out of my price range like almost all of the drum sets but it appears to be one that I am willing to spend the money on. I have had the drumming bug biting me constantly the last week or so and I feel this is my chance to get a kit to feed that bug. I’m also looking at the Standard edition of the same YAMAHA series. It doesn’t have the same pads but it’s a few hundred dollars cheaper.
On the flip side I have also been shopping new computer parts to update my current system. This is going to be a one or the other situation…either I buy the drums or I upgrade my computer. Upgrading the computer will be considerably less money but I’m not positive it will be more gratifying. I have only ever built mid-range systems and the current system I have is fine for the work and little play that I do. The upgrade will include a BIOSTAR TA770 motherboard, AMD Athlon 64 X2 5400+ Brisbane 2.8GHz, 2GB of RAM, GeForce 8800GTS and a new power supply. I am on my second build in the current case I have and it appears to be holding up very well.
I’ll probably shop until I talk myself out of both. But at the moment the drum option is fighting hard to become a reality.
